Let yourself be happy

I’m wearing a new-old coat today to an afternoon art tutorial. I’ve been putting off wearing it for ages because I was worried what people might say but today I finally have the courage to just wear it because I love it.

In other news, my book binders awl arrived today so I can start binding soon! Just waiting on the waxed linen thread now :)

Surrogate

The picture that I promised. I know, it is late, I am sorry. This is the concept sketch for a Doll I am making. Did you know that hollow Egyptian dolls were thought of as a kind of Surrogate body for wandering souls? I can’t remember who told me that, but it resonated with me. There are a lot of hollow spaces that stagnant ‘stuff’ seems, to me to linger in. Houses and rooms, baths and pools. I guess, why not hollow dolls as well?

Anyway, just a thought.

"Come to the edge.
We can’t, we’re afraid.
Come to the edge.
We can’t. We’ll fall!
Come to the edge.
And they came.
And he pushed them.
And they flew."

Guillaume Apollinaire
